Interesting article James. Yet another important piece to the puzzle. Though not a new one, it's nice to see some more in-depth research going on.
What puzzled me was the example of a lady on Amitriptyline who then had Paxil added and then experienced adverse side effects. Well, DUhhhh. What kind of a moron doctor prescribed this without adjusting doses accordingly? And then to make it worse, they substituted Prozac for Paxil? Double moron. I mean, if we want to increase tricyclic blood levels, add an SSRI. That's an effective and valid strategy. But if we REALLY want to raise them dramactically, add Prozac. I don't know, that's just basic stuff to me, and I am absolutely stunned that some doctors are so naive and ignorant of what they're doing as to make such prescriptions without taking into account how each drug will influence the blood levels of each. I'm glad her doctors aren't mine. They should go back to school.
