Greetings!
A friend of mine needs a more progressive PDOC than
his current. Mine's too far away, so I'm checking with
those in this fine group who might be closer to the
Beltway than I am. And considering the effect on anyone
who drives the teeth-grinding inner/outer loops (and other
routes), I'll bet there's more than one Washingtonian on
this list!
Thanks in advance for any referrals!

If you want the most progressive pdoc you can find, go to www.drjensen.com. Arrange a consulation. You will however need a pdoc or a gp in your local area to receive Jensen's phone calls, faxes, and prescription recommendations. He'll call the shots, but your local doc will actually write the prescrips and monitor the situation.
He's as progressive and successful as can possibly be. Don't let the website fool you. He's not a quack. Not a get-rich-quick scheme. A true bonafide expert who gets difficult patients well...FAST...all around the world. His office is in California, but his patients are all over the globe. He usually achieves excellent results in anywhere from one to eight consultations. His progressive methods are being taught in some medical schools via his book (manual actually). Very professsional. Very mild mannered. No ego. Just intricate expertise and passion for getting you well. Fees are the same as everyone else.
It's probably not what you had in mind, but it definitely qaulifies as being one of the best choices you'll find anywhere. Check it out. You'll be skeptical--as I was. But once you flip through a few pages of his book or talk to him personally, you'll know you stumbled onto a goldmine.

I am going to read Dr. Jensen's book, but in case you (also) need a local recommendation, I saw a Pdoc by the name of Tom Fogarty in Fairfax, for several years prior to moving to the Chicago area.
He's excellent. He practices psychiatry full time, but he is also a board-certified internist, which I found a very helpful combination since I have a chronic physical illness. It's nice of you to do some checking for your friend. He's lucky to have you.
