I am taking 150mg EffexorXR daily. It has been great
for my depression.
The problem is missing a dose or withdrawal.
Has anyone got information on this bizarre phenomenom...
The feeling of electrical impulses in the brain...
Vertigo when moving head side to side - and it takes
a few seconds for the eyes to catch up - making it
extremely uncomfortable - and impossible to drive.
Visably wandering eyes.
Thanks.

James here....This probably has to do with Effexor (even the XR) moving thru your body in just a day. As to the actual cause, it is not known. Of course, don't miss a dose and you will not have a problem. If you need to stop Effexor, taper the dose and then finish off with a few doses of Prozac, which is long acting and will stop these problems.

Maggie - You are probably experiencing withdrawl effects as James has said or an enhancement of side effects. Effexor can cause:
1) abnormality of accomodation - problems with the adjusting of you eyes to distance.
2) asthenia - loss of strength of energy sometimes resulting in vertigo.
3) abnormal thinking or depersonalization or confusion.
4) mydriasis - dilatation of the pupil (maybe causing light flashes)These are all 'shots in the dark', but I thought they may explain a little of what you are experiencing (then again, maybe not).
Withdraw from Effexor very slowly (at least over a period of a month or two).
For what its worth - Cam W.

I have experienced something like this. I switched to the XR version because with the regular, if I took a dose late, I would start to feel wierd. Now, even with the XR, my balance is off in the morning, and I have to be really careful in the shower. I have learned to deal with it.
This is the end of the thread.
