Remeron day 5 ...flu like symptoms..HELP TOBY!!!

Posted by Jen on April 1, 2000, at 11:06:02

I've been takeing Remeron for four days and this morning woke
up feeling rather achy and tired. I atributed the tiredness
to not getting a good sleep last night due to excess acid
in the stomach making it difficult to get to sleep. I have
checked my temperature and it is elevated by less than one degree (around 99.4)
I've taken an OTC fever reducer/ pain reliever which seems to be working. Do I miss
my next dose and just quit it til i can get to my Doc's on Monday, or do
I keep going at the 30mgs until i see him?? HELP!!!

Thanks in advance!
Jen

I had an extremely strange reaction to remeron. Kinda like the priaprism effect that's listed with trazadone, or is it anafranil? Anyway, about a week after taking remeron 45mgs. a day I developed a 24hr. hard on! It really wasnt painful but definitely restrictive and quite annoying. I work out of my home in sales so it didnt interfere with my life to much. My doc and I were completely befuddled as to what it could be, but sure enough 2 days off of the stuff and no more stiff meat! I switched to protriptyline and havent had any problems with it. I penetrated a lot of stuff that week! By the end of the week my equipment looked like it had been put through a cheese grater. Other than that I cant say it was all that bad. Might go back to it sometime. I hope this helped, if you have any questions just ask.

>Jen,
I've been taking Remeron for quite some time now, initially as an AD, but now I take it as a sleep aid. It has 2 effects on me... extreme hunger and then sleep. Waking up groggy and tired is a normal side effect of the drug, at least for me. Hang tough, it has worked wonders for a lot of people. I think the flu like symptoms will pass.
Good luck,
Greg

I would definitely wait and talk to doc. One day of feeling achy and tired, in my book, is no reason to stop an AD. Often side effects disappear given enough time, and who knows, you might be coming down with something. Hang in there if you can. I know how hard it is. Been there, done that. Happy April Fools!

Sherry and all,
I spoke with my doc and he seems to think i just have a virus, which is good. I was
concerned because of the possibility of fever indicating a depression of white blood cells. In any
case I've continued on my dose and feel better today, although I have a severe case of acid indegestion. I know
this because milk has become my new best friend. Does anyone know if this goes away? It's worse at night
I try eating a little something, but usually it's too late. I'm going to try an acid reducer tonight along with
plenty of milk and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice!!

Jen,
I take Prilosec for chronic acid reflux, it works wonders. I know what its like to be woke up out of a sound sleep with an acid stomach! You might talk to your doc about it. 40mgs a day MAX, more than that can be dangerous.
