Paxil / Remeron.. Update

Posted by NikkiT on March 13, 2000, at 5:38:39

Well, after what could easily be described as the worst weekend ever, I've finally made it into work - only 3 hours late.

I feel awful. I took my forst Remeron (30mg) on Saturday night, and it doesn't seem to have eased up the Paxil withdrawal atall. I still think it was very strange for my doc to tell me to "cold turkey" from Paxil, (also 30mg) as everyone else I speak to has been weaned off. I am still VERY dizzy, and am having problems with everything. Also, I have turned into bitch queen from hell.. shouting and snapping at everyone who comes near me.

I know it'll be OK soon, but it is so hard to deal with right now.
Plus, having hardly cried at all for the 3 months on Paxil, I keep bursting into tears (Bob - your comments on my first post were so nice, I sat here and cried my eyes out).

Just "babbling" I guess.. but no where else seemt o understand, I can't face being told to "get a grip" again...

Nikki xx

NikkiT,
YOu and Iowagirl (above posts) are going through similar experiences with Paxil and Remeron. I just posted to her so I understand some of what you have gone through.

When I came off Paxil, my doctor prescribed Prozac which is often used to help with the horrible side effects of Paxil withdrawl. Also weaning off of Paxil is certainly the way to go.

I felt some of my most negative experiences were being on the wrong medication or too high of dosages.

Hang in there...better days are ahead.

As I mentioned in another post, 20mg Paxil + 7.5mg Remeron is a real good combination. Much better than either alone, in terms of side effects and efficacy. If you have leftovers on-hand, you might want to think about trying this for a week. If you don't have any on hand, perhaps your doctor might consider refilling your Paxil prescription for a trial of this combination. I think you'll like it a whole lot better than either drug alone.
