Hello, Yes, I was feeling good, but, my wonderful parents came to visit, then the upset began. I feel like something in me is going to explode. My husband tells me the drugs are not going to take away the pain.
I feel with that much zoloft I am taking 300mg should take away the pain...I took 4-5 ativan, due to my nerves. It didn't help. WHY!!!!!!! I can't understand why it didn't help. This is the sec. day of not eating..all I do is smoke cigs. and drink coffee.
I told my ther. about panic attacks, she said to punch a pillow....I got really mad...
I know my moods have been happy for awhile then it comes crashing down...
Thanks
Rose

Rose, If your pain is that severe, then medication alone really can't take it all away. These feelings need to be resolved, and you're right, punching a pillow is a stupid suggestion. You might want to seriously consider finding a new therapist.
You may not realize it, but the cigarettes and coffee are your way of "medicating" your feelings. Unfortunatly, they really are making things worse. It has been documented that both nicotine and caffiene can make nervousness, anxiety, and panic attacks, *worse*. So, as difficult as it will be, your best bet for feeling better *soon* would be to cut out the cigarettes and coffee(and I'm really sorry to have to tell you that, *I* know how hard it is). Best wishes to you! CarolAnn

i think that it is wonderful that you are reaching out here, but the urgency and pain you are describing seem like they need to be addressed by your therapist and or p-doc. also. drugs alone won't take away the pain, regardless of dosage. the best they can do is provide a more stable base for working through problems---but your base seems pretty shakey right now.
not eating can only make things worse....i've read that if your body is deprived of the necessary proteins for 3 days, many antidepressants will stop working as they help to raise the neurotransmitters which are composed partially of specific proteins. (and tryptophan, an amino acid, is the precurser of serotonin) and the brain's fuel is glucose--without a fresh supply things are going to be a little foggy and tainted. please try eating at least a little bit of healthy foods, and keep us updated on how things are going.
This is the end of the thread.
