My husband, normally very supportive, called me up this afternoon to ask if it was okay to take a three day business trip starting tomorrow. This after a call from me this morning, sobbing and telling him what a bad day I was having. Now he wants to know if he can leave me in charge of our 15-year old with ADD for three days...a woman who takes two hours just to get up and dressed in the morning. What universe is the man living in?

I hear you and empathize! It is possible to raise these kids - one day at a time. I used to dread my husband's absences for the same reasons. Do you have a local support system? (Easier said than done).

> Chris A.Chris...thanks for your empathy. Our child is actually a foster child who we are planning to adopt. We are both in our early 50's and have had no children...so imagine the shock! Anyway, eventually my husband decided to stay home. I do have a good support system, but at this point in my depression it's really hard to reach out for help. I love our boy a lot, but at this point I really can't stand him...you probably know what I mean. I'm also pretty angry at my psychiatrist, whose phone response to my telling him I was feeling worse was, "Well, you know if you do anything to harm yourself they're going to take that boy right away from you". Nothing like a good threat to make you feel better, eh!
