Well, I begin a new job Monday...phew. These sheetrock sandwiches were getting old!
Also started Rebox yesterday and am praying for results. We'll see what happens.
My new job is not high paying so I may look into a p-t job. I was thinking about a mobile ECT unit. Imagine that parked in front of your house.Phil

Best of luck Phil with the new job and the new medicine. Keep us posted and how it goes with reboxetine. I've had a very good response to it, maybe you will enjoy the same.

WooHoo, Phil! If you were nearby, I'd take you out to dinner to celebrate. How bout we settle for a toast on our glass of water (the one we use to take all our pills!)? Here's to Phil, who picked himself up, dusted himself off and went on to find another horse to ride.
Good luck with the rebox. Are you mail ordering it? Internet-ordering, or what?

Noa, you've got to be one of the sweetest people on the planet! And thank you.
I ordered the Rebox over the net from IAS. Depression is still kicking my ass but I'm putting one foot in front of the other. Day by day.
You know, as long as I've been on meds, I've probably withdrawn more from life than the other way around. Even when I really didn't feel depressed, it was still easier to be alone. I need some behavior modification but I've talked myself silly in therapy. I feel a great need to take more chances in life, little stuff, but can't motivate myself at all. Anyone had lasting success in this area?Phil

> PhilI don'tknow what rebox is, but I take Zoloft and swim three times a week. Also, had cognitive therapy a while back. Was very helpful, but you have to work at it. Write stuff down in those columns all the time. Stop negative thoughts ASAP. The best book I've read on it was - Oh heck, I forgot the name! It's not new. Maybe it was Feel Good or something like that.
Anyway, sometimes, talk, talk, talk, symptom, symptom, symtom turns into my own psychodrama. Decided to get back to basics and quit chasing symptoms with more meds.
My primary problem was depression -so I have consequently passed on the mood stabilizers, etc.
Sometimes I find just getting up and going into a different room helps. We're never really healed. I still feel bad sometimes and good other times. Good luck with the new job!

I am happy for you Phil. I have had a similar experience to you with the AD, they seem to make me worse and more withdrawn. I am a rapid cycler and sometimes wonder if this is why (for me anyway).
It seems to me, the more I do, the more I want to do. The busier I am, the happier I am. So it's probably about baby-steps.
What about a coach or counsellor that you are responsible to for setting goals and then accomplishing them?
What about a woman or romantic partner to fill in for your weak points, and to help keep you motivated? I've always done best in the past when I've been with men I loved or respected. Just make certain you pick a woman who is psychologically sound and relatively stable. Trust me, most women would rather be with a man like you than an unsophisticated, unfeeling one.
I'm happy to hear about your job. This is a step in the right direction.
Janice
ps. I'll want to hear about your Reboxetine experiences. I did best on Desipramine, and I believe Reboxetine is related to it.

Brenda and Janice, Thanks for your replies. I must say, I am getting blown away, not only about the suggestions and helpfulness of this community, but the true caring and compassion. I'm at a loss for words...

Yeah Phil! I'm so happy to see life cooperating with you, even if it's small steps, at least you've got steps, right. Thanks for updating us old hens :-) I'm so impressed with your spirit to keep moving, seriously impressive. There are so many wise ones in babble-land, you're one of them. Even though some of us are stilling struggling and fighting to get to the top of the hill (or lump as Noa calls it :-) there is still so much wisdom and experience that is shared without bias, without contempt. I keep watching and learning, and hoping, which is the key component to dealing with this thing called depression.
I thank you for what you have shared, and for what you will share. My best wishes to you, and will be waiting to hear how the Reboxetine works out.

Dove Thanks so much. As with, I guess, most people with depression my life has been blessed with a few 'ups' and some horrendous downs. I have wondered many times how I get back up but we all have to somehow try.
The Reboxetine is agreeing with me so far..I'm taking it low and slow! Maybe it's helping more than I think because I am really feeling so much love for all of you whereas before I couldn't feel too much.
This board has been a huge blessing for me because of people like you.Phil
