That was interesting. I've been taking omega-3 fish oil for several years to reduce menstrual camps (and it works!), but I've never noticed it to have any affect on my brain.

Simon - Sorry to burst your bubble on this one. I follow this article quite closely when it was published in the Archives of General Psychiatry last year. Although much of the follow-up mail on this article was back-slapping among the converted, Dr.Calabrese (the pre-eminent bipolar researcher) had some very interesting comments about some of the methodology used in the study. He raised good questions about the fish oil used and the mathematical statistics employed in the results. I feel that the jury is still very much out on the use of fish oil in bipolar disorder, although the authors do raise some interesting hypotheses. Sincerely - Cam W.
