Tell your story, I'm assuming it wasn't pleasant.

I have been on 200mgs Wellbutrin SR, twice per day, for 4 months now. I would really like to read your story in case I decide to stop the pills. thanx!CarolAnn

One caveat: It is probably desirable to discontinue taking an antidepressant or lithium using a gradual taper schedule. This is especially true if you are currently feeling well and wish to stay that way.

I have read a few studies recently that demonstrate that those people who discontinued a drug gradually were significantly less likely to relapse than those who did so abruptly. Intuitively, this probably seems to make sense, but the actual statistics I saw were quite persuasive.

I would love to hear your story. I am in the process of weaning myself off of meds (slowly and one drug at a time.) Wellbutrin will be the last one that I get rid of, so your story would be of great interest.

Don't do it! I made that mistake about three years ago. Thought I knew more than the doctor, of course. Next thing I knew I was unable to work...my husband had to stay at home with me (or I would have had to go into the hospital). I was suicidal, came close to cutting myself. Within two days of returning to a high dosage, came back to normal. Believe me, depression is bad enough without asking for it!
