Undone in Connecticut and need help

Posted by citiboy on January 30, 2000, at 23:09:54

I've been taking Celexa, Ritalin and Ambien for about a year.
My psychiatrist decided to leave the Clinic, and
this APRN (Assistant Physician Registered Nurse), took over doling
out the medication to his patients, myself (of course) included.
She looked at the drug protocol and said that "the Ritalin had to go. There's
no place for that stuff here." I was dumb-founded and astonished since
this STUPID BROAD hadn't even taken the time to read my charts.

It turns out that she's not LICENSED to give out CONTROL-II substances.
Only doctors can give out that genre of drug.

With protest, I insisted on seeing a bona fide doctor to renew my Ritalin
prescription because it augmented the Celexa very nicely. Again, this
ASSHOLE doctor came in the room, glanced at me, looked at the drug protocol
and reluctantly wrote out my LAST script for Ritalin. This is what he
told me: "Ritalin is only a short term drug."

This all happened around two months ago. I've been living with sustained
despair and agony since I stopped taking all medication. I don't have the
energy nor motivation to find another doctor. I feel as though I'm going to die.

So, let us now praise famous men, women & Clinics, to avoid:

The Clinic's name: Charlotte-Hungerford Psychiatric Clinic, Torrington, CT 06790
(860)496-6350
The APRN: Ms. Kathy Thayer
The Doctor: Dr. Samuel Langer

Anyone in the Litchfield County area who goes to CHH for any medical problem
or need, should really have their head examined.

By the same token, if anyone knows of a good doctor in this area, please let me
know. Thanks for reading this missive.

Why not try UCONN Medical Center in Farmington? It isn't too far from Torrington.

Or, travel somewhat further, and try Yale New Haven Hosptial. Dr. Dan Oren is a noted psychiatrist, formerly of NIMH. If he is not available, there would be other docs there. Yale New Haven is known as a good research center for mental health.

blah, blah, blah

Thank you NOA for the advice.

Interestingly enough, 12 hours after posting my
message, someone from CHH called me to set up an
appointment to see a REAL DOCTOR (wow!). I'm
impressed with the power of this message
center!
