Withdrawal from SSRI (zoloft)

Posted by dorothee on January 26, 2000, at 23:19:37

Has anyone successfully withdrawn from zoloft? Did you feel normal again?

I've got weird pulse-like sensations, and I just feel yucky. When will it end?

(I've been off for a week or so.) Thanks.

Dorothee - A few questions first. What was your final dosage and how long had you been taking Zoloft? Are or were you taking any other meds with it? Did your doctor wean you off of it or did you stop cold turkey. Depending upon the dose, you should be weaned from Zoloft over a period of two weeks. This is seldom done in clinical practice.

What you are probably experiencing are the withdrawl effects of an SSRI. These may last another week or just another few days, depending on dosage and length of therapy.

Yes, it will end; just give it a few more days and these symptoms should fade. Thou not usually serious, report these symptoms to your doctor and ask his/her opinion. Good luck - Cam W.
