I currently take nardil(30mg.) for depression. It works well but causes some sleep disturbance. I use ativan, but prefer to keep it for daytime stress/anxiety. Any suggestions on good sleep meds??

I was tried on Depakote, which I never thought did much. When I have a difficult time sleeping, I get up and take 1/2 or 1 Xanax. It puts me to sleep in short order and I don't wake up again until it is time to. However, I don't believe Xanax is meant to be taken regularly because it is an addictive medication.

When I started WEllbutrin I was introduced to the world of the insomniacs! I learned from another board that benadryl and over the counter sleep aids have exactly the same ingredients. The generic or store brands of benadryl are the cheapest. The main ingredient in these is HCL, if I remember correctly. Best of luck to you. A little more advice...Iif you like to read to relax yourself before trying to sleep , don't read Insomnia by Stephen King! ;(

I alternate between 25 or 50 mg trazodone and .5 mg of klonipin to deal with Effexor-caused insomnia. Both work most of the time, but the trazodone comes on like a bulldozer...very disconcerting.
