Nasty side effects on Celexa...

Posted by arachne317 on January 11, 2000, at 10:30:02

I was recently on Celexa for my OCD. I was on around 60-75 mg. It was last spring, actually. The crucial 3rd trimester of my junior year in high school. All at once, my short-term memory disappeared. I was sleepy all the time, and my GPA dropped with a thud. I could barely remember my own name. Mercifully, I was taken off the stuff, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems. It's a shame too, because Celexa was the first and so far only drug that actually helped my compulsions at all. Let me know, please, if you've seen this happen before... I find it peculiar and unsettling. :)

I take 40 mg. Celexa and have had no side effects whatsoever. Acually, I thought 40 mg. was the maximum dosage. Maybe you just need to be at a lower dosage?

Oddly, I was at a lower dosage with no problem. It was like 40-45 mg. The only problem was, it did no good for my compulsions, so the dose was boosted. Then it started working, but the side effects began. Strange, huh? Good luck with it yourself! :)

>> Itake only 20 mg Celexa for about the last year and have no side effects. Actually, I find that at times the drug makes me somewhat manic - then I reduce the dose to 10 mgs/day for a few days, get stabilized and start feeling sleepy. When I jump back up to my usualy 20 mgs again -- I am re-energized. This drug has always given me more pep.
