Reboxetine and Parnate?

Posted by Roy on January 3, 2000, at 15:16:20

I've been on Reboxetine (8mg) about four weeks now and
felt better for about two days after two weeks on the drug. After those two days, i've been feeling consistently awful and the side effects are pushing me to switch to something else. Besides the dry mouth, constipation, slow urination, random ejaculation after urination, and fitful sleep, i feel cold all the time. my hands and feet are always ice cold and i'm constantly wearing layers of warm clothes while others are wearing tshirts and shorts.

i'm thinking of augmenting the Reboxetine with something...but with what? I was on Parnate for about four months about a year ago, still have a good supply of it, and am thinking of taking the plunge.

What say anyone?

Thanks.

I dumped Parnate because it really wasn't helping very much. I felt mildly better, but still pretty awful.

This is *exactly* the scenario I have consistently experienced using tricyclics.

Nardil and Parnate, both MAO-inhibitors, have had a slight positive effect on me in the past, especially when combined with a tricyclic. I may consider using reboxetine in combination with Nardil. My doctor said that, “theoretically”, this should not be a problem. I am excited to see how successful combining reboxetine with the SSRIs will be.

Good Luck.

Myself, I wouldn't combine Parnate and reboxetine, if only because several of the side effects I experienced on Parnate (and others which are listed as potential side-effects)--including insomnia and rapid pulse--are also what I'm experiencing on rebox., and I would think that those would only become worse, or it would increase the likelihood of them occuring. If Parnate didn't do anything for you before, I'm not sure that it would now, anyway. And I really wouldn't want to screw around with MAOIs unsupervised--too many risks. Just my 2 cents, though.
