Had to say goodbye today

To my best friend who moved interstate. I'm sad.

After years of due consideration, my conclusion is that saying goodbye sucks, and has little redeeming value.

I'm sorry your friend moved.

Damn.

Shar

Actually, she's a he, and he has gone to Sydney. :(

But at least that is accessable by car within a day, if needed.

Our relationship has been strange. We've known each other for only 2 years, and he has changed and grown so much in that time (guess I have, too). We've always been very very close, but have pulled back from the relationship a little in probably the last 4 months, because we got too close and the lines between friends and "more than friends" got blurred.

I think him moving to Sydney has to be the best thing, really, because it will give us a chance to mature and grow seperately from each other. We'll remain friends, and stay in contact, but there will be a distance that will prevent anything other than friendship from occurring. And neither of us are ready for that, especially with each other, and the worst thing in the world would be to jump into a serious relationship with him too soon. Because that would eventually mean the end of the friendship.

Does this make any sense? Because on the other hand, I just want to move to Sydney tomorrow and be with them all (there's quite a few who have moved).

The nicest thing of all when they left was getting nice big hugs, and then he whispered into my hair that he loved me. Neither of us has said it before, and I'm still stunned that he said it first. And of course, just meaning a platonic love.

Geez, shut up Rambling Rachael!

Rach, I remember what that was like, when your peers are all somewhat transient and you have to say goodbye, not only to what was but to what potentially could become. It was hard.

You're not rambling--you're expressing yourself!
