The body needs Choline to make one of the major NT's,
acetylcholine. Acetylcholine seems to be everywhere in the nervous system, a major player, often mentioned as a "smart drug" .The soy product Lecithin is a common way to take it, as soft gel capsules. phosphatidyl-choline (PC) is the primary phospholipid people take lecithin for. Triple strength Lecithin has 420 mg/cap of PC. However if you eat 1 large egg you get 2,010 mg PC, so if you eat eggs I would not waste the money on the pills. Mother nature may of put PC in other foods, she is a good cook, but I don't eat eggs so I take lecithin from time to time. Also Lecithin is totally natural and cheaper than choline or inositol.
We don't have RDA's for aminos, choline, micro nutrients and trace mins yet, though shortly RDA's for some will be est. with the rest to come later. We know all the chems you have to take in to live and once we have RDA's for everything the issue of what to take extra of will be clearer.

The organization I work for runs a summer research program where we put high school kids in research labs in the NYC region. In the last few years, we've had several kids placed into sites doing research on choline. From the preliminaries out of these labs, it sounds like ignoring the role of choline has been a major gaff ... that not only should it be classified as a vitamin (whatever makes something qualify for that tag) but that it may be the most important vitamin we need.
Hmmmm
