My Ob-Gyn has recommended DP injections. Im 50 yrs old and currently take Klonopin, Serzone and Effexor. Does anyone know of problems this could cause? Thank you!

Provera is a synthetic drug that locks into receptors for progesterone on cells. It does not enter the cells and act like progesterone. It sometimes can send people in the direction of depression if they are so inclined. Natural progesterone on the other hand does have calming effects.

Why did Depo Provera alleviate my depression, then? And why did birth control pills with estrogen and progesterone make it so much worse?
