I am on 10 grams of Omega 3 Fatty Acid, 450 mg of wellbutron, 300 mg of 5htp and 1600 mg. of SAMe and yes, I have noticed the difference since being on this dose of SAMe for 5 months. The best deal is to buy it at Costco, or similar place. Wendy

Could you give me a schedule of how long you've been on 5HTP and SAMe only, and at what dosages (i.e. SAMe for 1 month @ 400mgs, etc.). Could you also chart your progress? I would be eternally grateful. I'm currently @ 800 mgs a day of SAMe, but feel as if an increase is just throwing $$ out the window. I had a great initial reaction to SAMe, but its lost at least 1/2 its effectiveness (I've been taking it for 1 1/2 months). Also, I buy it 60 pills for $45. I hear its the same price at Costco. Am I right?

The problem here is that depression is not caused by a lack of nutrents taken into the body. There is also a feedback loop which sloffs off excess l-trip or any percursor taken in, past a point. Even mc Donalds food has lots of L-trip, so as long as you eat regulary you get the percursors to make neuro transmitters.
I'm not saying don't supplement, it is a good idea
to make sure you get everything you need to live, but don't expect these kind of supplements to have big AD effects. It just does not work that way.james

I have been on 5htp for 3 yrs.@300mg/day plus other stuff. Added SAMe to it started at 400mg. and then bumped it up to 1600mg.I did not notice any benefits until 1400mg. I get it for the same price. hang in there. Wendy

Where do you buy SAMe at $45 for 60 pills besides Cosco? I bought it at $19.95 for 20 pills at Walmart and do not belong to any of the warehouse clubs. Do you get it at a regular retail store?

I buy it at either Costco or BJ's Wholesale club (which I believe are essentially the same store) for that price. I haven't seen it cheaper anywhere, be it on the web or any other retail store. I'm also researching the product right now. It seems as if this product is an amino acid tied in with another product I'm unsure of. The amino part is Methionine, which can be purchased on the web cheap. I'm hoping to construct my own SAMe, if thats possible.
P.S. I understand there are alot of these big retail outlets. I would try Sam's Club if Costco or BJ's isn't nearby. Good luck. I'll also post info on Methionine if I come to purchase it and it works like SAMe.
