Hiya,
A while ago there was lots of discussion about Marplan on this list, with a few people trying it out. I'd like to
know if those people who tried it found it helpful. Any comments on your experience with it would be welcome, since it's
one of my current options. Thanks!anita

Hi Anita,
I started Marplan in August and just stopped this week because of the side effects. Others speak of the good side effect profile of Marplan, so keep in mind we all react differently. I have atypical depression. The side effects that did me in were urine hesitation and retention, complete constipation, anorgasmia, weight gain(mostly water weight I think), myclonic jerks and RLS (Restless Leg Syndome). To be honest the RLS didn't bother me as much as it did other people, but I was sick of being asked to stop jiggling my legs.
On the positive side, I maintained some of the mood and energy improvement I gained in my trial of the Selegiline patch. It also held the worst of the suicidal ideations at bay. After initial sleep interuption, I was able to sleep well after lowering my dose to 30 mg because of the myclonic jerks. My blood pressure was okay, averaging around 100/65.
If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you.
