I finally went to the psyche doc and was diagnosed as Bipolar I, ADHD, GAD, and Panic disorder. With mild OCD and PTSD as secondary disorders. Now, to my questions. I have been taking 75mgs of Ami and the psyche doc has me taking adderall (20 mgs per day) to start and prozac (20 mgs per day) for start, all to be raised in 16 days. Is this a normal (ha! what's normal anyway?) combination of meds? Is there any risk of serotonin syndrome? He also said that lithium will be added at a later date, as I become 'stabalized' on this combination. I have been on tegretol before and was a zombie so I'm a little afraid of the lithium, is it different than tegretol?
Any advice or input from all you wise people would be appreciated.

I would just watch out for mania or hypomania
with all the antidepressants. Amitriptyline is
pretty sedating and I still use it for sleep. It
has not produced manic symptoms for me because I
tend to sleep well. SSRI's can have the opposite
effect, so watch out for insomnia. Best of luck,Sean.

Sean, Thanks for the input. So far, I've been more relaxed than I've been in years. I really appreciate that you took the time to write. I feel a little overwhelmed by all the different meds and the various combinations, how can any one keep it all straight? :-) The docs I've seen are all so laissez-faire with writing out the scripts and telling me that the meds have no real side-effects. I am afraid of putting all these combinations into my body, they effect so many different things.

> dovehi dove,
You answered my posting above about my ADD cycling. you and I have alot of the same disorders. I have all 4 of these, ADD, manic depression, OCD and PTSD. listen carefully because I can't say it loud enough or often enough, I love lithium. Just 600mg a day keeps me out of the nuthouse and functioning (not at the highest level, but I'm working on that).Did your doctors just recently give you all these diagnosis? Yes they give out medications easily and they (or my psychiatrist anyway) never tell you about possible side affects. I imagine they know what incredible imaginations we already have and that we don't need any volunteered 'not pleasant' information to get our imaginations going even more about side affects. keep in touch, Janice

i have been diagnosed with manic-depression, add & anxiety disorder. Before the mania appeared, i was on adderall, klonopins, and effexor xr. Now, because of the mania, they're thinking of putting me on lithium, prozac, adderall, (and klonopins or xanax???). I don't want to be on all of these medications. Keep in touch with all your follow ups. thanx. :)
