I've read some interesting material regarding high
cortisol levels causing or at least contributing to anxiety,
despression and even Alzheimer's. My mother recently
died of Alzheimer's, and she suffered from depression
and anxiety for most of her life. Think there is
any connection her Dr. Bob?

Jezebel,
I just read this article, at Thumper's suggestion (see thread on memory loss, just above). Thought you might like to have a look.http://news-info.wustl.edu/feature/1996/July96-Depression.html

I realize that you don't want the vet's side, but at least it is related. Cushings is elevated cortisol from a pituitary tumor, which does improve some physical symptoms, like arthritis, but leads to major depression in many horses.
Just for what it's worth.
This is the end of the thread.
