I just went off my 4th med after numerous side affects
that I just couldn't handle any longer. I've started
on St. John's Wort and wonder if there is any hope of
taking off the 30 lbs. I've picked up along the way.
I have been on AD's for 2 years and I'm scared but also
a little excited about how it's going to go. I just
can't be fat and happy...one of them has to go I just
hope I can be stable and able to cope.

Hi Kel-
I was on prozac for a year and a half. I went off of it 3 months ago. The first month I was off prozac I gained an additional 10 pounds. I've heard this is a common. The second month I lost 3 pounds wihout dieting. I have lost 7 pounds in this third month, The last week I have been on a very low calorie diet, in the hope that it will come off faster. I need to lose another 25 pounds to get to my pre-prozac weight. While I was on prozac and for a time afterward, I didn't lose weight regardless of the number of calories I consumed or how much I worked out. I'm happy to report that I now lose weight in response to dieting and exercise.

Annie,
are you on any antidepressant now, or med free?

I am med-free for the time being. I was put on prozac for situational depression (divorce) and general anxiety. I haven't had any relapses of depression or anxiety, thus far. I occasionally take klonopin and atentol for public speaking, which I'm required to do for my job. I find that helps with the anxiety a great deal, but that comes up maybe only once a month, or so.
This is the end of the thread.
