Hello friends and neighbors,
Couldn't find the right zone on Serzone so my doc just happened to have another SSRI handy. I must admit, I do need an SSRI now-I feel like crap. Who knows, maybe Zoloft will be closer to 'it' than I've seen in a while.
This has been one helluva year for me on AD's but I'm lucky compared to many. If you can call a lifetime of depression lucky.
When an AD works for me, it always coincides with weight gain and no libido. Hooooo boooooy-can't wait to feel better.Love,
Phil

Phil,
Hi :-)
I remember writing to you some about Serzone, and
we both seemed to get irritable on it. Well,
knock on wood, it seems to be helping me now. I
think I was expecting it to work like an SSRI--when
I take an SSRI I usually get immediate relief, or
at least in 2 or 3 days. With Serzone it seemed
really important that I stay at the lowest possible
dose (100 mg's--split in half, one in the morning,
the other at night) for a long time. The day I
went to the regular dose, I went into a deep depression.
I"m not sure how you handled your dosing when you
were on serzone. I'm still a little more moody
and cranky than I would be on an SSRI, but I'm not
depression--I feel happy and I don't have the demons
telling me what a shit I am all the time. I think
cranky is just part of my personality, and I like
that serzone dosen't seem to numb my emotions (or
other parts of my body, like SSRI's do). I also
have energy. I can sleep well and it dosen't effect
my sex life in the least. I am hoping it will stay
this way--it's only been 3 weeks, so I'm afraid
to get too happy about it. I've been searching
for a med that didn't sexual side effects or weight
gain for almost a year, and it was really wearing
me out.
I just wanted to let you know in case you maybe
weren't taking Serzone in the right way. I was
just about to throw it in the trash, and it started
working for me near the end of the 2nd week.I hope you find something soon--I know how much
the search sucks. Have you thought about a tricylclic
like disipramine? That was going to be my next
course of action, and still might be if this all
ends up being a hoax.Hang in There--Ruth
