I am a 29 years old (female) My history with antidepressants and weight: 2 years on prozac, noticed weight loss. that stopped helping my depression and tried effexor, noticed no weight changes but was not helping depression. just recently started celexa, have taken for 1 month. does anyone have any first hand experience with celexa and weight loss or gain? please share. thank you.

I lost about 20 pounds on Celexa. I take it in the morning with water. Be sure to keep hydrated because it will dry you out.Good luck!

I wish I could say the same for Celexa. I started
out on prozac and took it for one month. I hated
it. Then I started out with Celexa. I didnt
experience dry mouth, but I was very tired and
lethargic all of the time. I was apathetic at
work, evidently I forgot what I was eating because
I gained 20 lbs in 2 months!! I weight more now
than I ever have. I have another friend who
was taking it before I started. She takes 40 mgs.
She also gained weight. I went off of it,
not just because of the weight gain, but because
I just couldnt get my job done and felt I could
have problems with it in the future. Good luck.

I've been on Celexa for 2 weeks now and have lost 7 pounds...wow! From what I've read, it seems to vary from person to person, but I can definitely tell that I am a lot less hungry. Before going on the Celexa, I was starting to do a lot of binge eating and that's pretty much stopped since I've started the meds. Good Luck to you! Stacy
