I'am a social phobic and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this drug is effective in treating social phobics. Right now I'am on Celexa and Xanax and it does not seem to be taking my social fears away. Help could someone please give me some advice?

Hello Pat,

I am also interested in this medication, so I've posted a message to the babble, but I am more interested in personal accounts with its efficacy, side effects, special diet and so on.

If you want more general/technical info, try www.mentalhealth.com, pick up "medications" and then choose Moclobemide or Manerix. You may also try doing a search on Yahoo - enter a keyword Aurorix - this is the trade name of moclobemide in the rest of the world. I received quite a lot of useful links, also to the manufacturer's website.

Hope this helps,

Daniel

I tried Manerix. I ordered it from a Canadian pharmacy (I live in Calif.) I believe I gave it a trial of 4-5 weeks and did not notice any positive effects. Side effects were not a problem and as far as I understand there are no dietary restrictions (compared to other MOAI that inhibit both A and B). I previously had tried Parnate but found that the effects wore off after a while. Hope this helps
