Does anyone have any experience using this drug? I understand it is a Tricyclic. It is said to be good for lethargic depressions. It can increase energy levels. I guess side effects are somewhat similar to SSRI's.
Appreciate any info.

> Appreciate any info.I took Vivactil for two years, along with Buspar to augment it. The combo was fairly activating, also it seemed to increase my attention span. Had some constipation and blurred vision, and dry mouth, overall it not too bad on side effects. George

I took Vivactil for about 2 mos, it was the medicine from hell for me, major side affects, I had to take another med just the combat the side affects, unable to urinate and nausea everytime I ate or drank anything except 7-up. The small benefit it gave me for depression was not justified because of side affects.

Took Vivactil for two years and it changed my life. I did have typical side effects, constipation, dry mouth, but they seemed such a small price to pay for the relief it brought from the depression. I lost weight, started jogging five miles a day, received rave reviews at work, even changed my taste in music. I can't say enough about it. HOWEVER, I quit Vivactil to have a baby, suffered Post-Partum Depression, went back on the drug, and it didn't work. I have been on many other meds since then, but nothing comes close. I don't understand it, but if it works for you, stay with it. I would likd to know how you are doing.
