Love 'em or hate 'em U2 can bring it when it comes to emotion. This concert, live at Slane Castle, to me is one of the most impressive concerts I know. This is the highlight of it for me.
Seldom.

Great clip. Happiness is a young Bono, he was, shall we say, very easy on the eyes....
I found Larry Mullen's bit very interesting as well. I think he was at his best with Eno and Lanois on board. The song "Bad" was made by his drumming.
However, I find it very hard to watch clips of bands talking. They all sound way too serious and way too "spinal tappy" for me. At any minute I just expect someone to burst into the vomit sequence from Spinal Tap.
Marty: What happened to Stumpy Joe?
Derek: Well, uh, it's not a very pleasant story..but, uh,
David: He's passed on.
Derek: he died. uh...he choked on..the ac- the official explanation was he choked on vomit.
Nigel: It was actually, was actually someone else's vomit.
It's not....
David: It's ugly.
Nigel: You know. There's no real....
Derek: You know they can't prove whose vomit it was...they don't have the facilities at Scotland Yard....
David: You can't print, there's no way to print a spectra-photograph
Nigel: You can't really dust for vomit.Seldom.

Been a long time since I've seen a pedal guitar.
I grew up on Hank Snow, Hank Williams,Sr., Eddy Arnold (never cared for him) Marty Robbins, Stonewall Jackson, The Louvin Brothers and many, many more. I also was into Brook Benton, Jackie Wilson, Elvis, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis (he married his 14 year old cousin).....On Friday nights tons of musicians would gather at our house and play up into the night. Some people would be playing "Pitch" and the kids would run in and out of the house..Cake was served by my mother.
Good times!

Darkness 11/11, by Van Der Graaf Generator
From the lyrics....
'Bless the baby born today,
flying in pitch, flying on fear.'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNtdRtz59O8Here are the lyrics...
Day dawns dark, it now numbers infinity.
Life crawls from the past, watching in wonder
I trace its patterns in me.
Tomorrow's tomorrow is birth again.
Boats burn the bridge in the fens;
the time of the past returns to my life
and uses it.Don't blame me for the letters that may form in the sand;
don't look in my eyes, you may see all the numbers
that stretch in my sky and colour my hand.
Don't say that I'm wrong in imagining
that the voice of my life cannot sing.
Fate enters and talks in old words:
They amuse it.The hands shine darkly and white: only in dark they appear.
Bless the baby born today,
flying in pitch, flying on fear. They shine in my eyes and touch my face
where I have seen them placed before;
don't blame me, please, for the fate that falls:
I did not choose it.
I did not, no no, I did not
I truly did not choose it.

This is wonderful! I've heard so many fantastic songs from you.......Thank you for putting the lyrics here.....I like that.......
"Everyone has a song,
that's how we know who we are."

This is a song by Robbie Robertson. He formed a group called "The Band". They played with Bob Dylan first and then struck out on their own. Robbie Robertson disbanded the group in the 80s and came out with his first single album. For me it is the single most important album during the 80s...this song is about the people who stake their lives on fame. And, of course, we have a large amount of responsibility here.
"American Roulette"
He was born in the belly of the country
Over east of Eden
Confused by the big city blues
He didn't know whose life he's leading
Put yourself behind the wheel
See if you can get that feel
Move faster by night
Move faster by night
The windows were all shattered
And the body was all batteredAmerican Roulette
Stake your life upon it
American Roulette
Same eyes, same eyes
American RouletteTake that body and put him in a mansion
Paint the window black
Give him all the women that he wants
Put a monkey on his back
All of your so called friends
Take you where the sidewalk ends
Can't sleep at night
Can't sleep at night
Lord please save his soul
He was the king of Rock and RollAmerican Roulette
Stake your life upon it
American Roulette
Same eyes, same eyes
American RouletteThey said she didn't have a chance in hell
For the American Dream
There's a thousand young blondes out there
Trying to make it to the silver screen
She had the walk, the look, the talk
That shook the world (Read about it)
Some like it hot
Some like it cool
Too much to her to handle
Another scandal, she burnt the candleAmerican Roulette
Stake your life upon it
American Roulette
Same eyes, same eyes
American RouletteSay a prayer for the lost generation
Who spin the wheel out of desperationAmerican Roulette
Stake your life upon it
American Roulette
Same eyes, same eyes
American Roulette
