> I"m doing ok had another therapy appt today first one in 3 weeks and it was rough really really rough..was just sitting here not knowing what to do ...it seems that it is harder on the lex to really get into the emotions because you are less likely to get upset and cry but you really need to...so it is pinned in there..but working on it..do you know what I mean??
Mystic,
I exactly what you mean. I had to get used to "emotions" again after going off Lexapro. I had forgotten what it was like to cry just watching a romantic movie... I feel so bad that this therapy takes so much out of you. I am just praying that it helps in the long run.

Hey Ya'll
I went to the Dr. today and he said that instead of lexapro for hormones, I should be taking prozac. I am going to start on 20mg tomorrow and get off the lexapro totally ( I am taking 5mg every other day). I called my p-doc to see what she thought and she said to give it a shot. She also said that it would be better on the weight gain and would actually help me lose weight... I need some help and support, anyone been on it I would love to hear. Thanks!!!

I use prozac but I'm not sure what your issues are; I don't have a weight problem (yet), I'm supposed to be on 60 mg but I'm trying to get down to 20. I've been losing a lot of hair (unfortunately not the kind that grow on the chin). I just can't stand the disturbing dreams anymore. I think if I can get down to 20 I'll be okay. 'zac has helped me have some kind of a life though. An imitation of one anyway.

Susan!
Hi to tell you the truth, I am really not sure at all what prozac has to do with hormones. My endocrinologist/Obgyn said that it would be better than lexapro for my PMS problems. So I am going to give it a try. We shall see...

Hey again Susan,
My problems are depression mostly around my period and anxiety. I have never had a weight problem but am gaining weight like crazy on lexapro...I think I up to like 7 or 8 lbs, I feel gross I cannot fit into my size 2 and 4s anymore, it sucks. So prozac has helped you some??

Mm, I used to feel like I wanted to commit criminal acts around the time of my periods; now I just feel extremely discouraged. I suppose that's progress of a sort. Personally I think prozac has had a big hand in helping me cope with life in general, but the particulars suck sometimes. For instance, I get anxiety attacks now, which I never used to have. Honestly though I don't know whether that's a byproduct of 'zac, therapy, or splitting from my parents (emotionally) and husband (physically). It's a toss-up I guess. Medications like Prozac I think are probably okay in smaller doses, like 20 mg, but at 60 I know it was too much for my body. I have been eating a lot more lately and gaining weight, but I can definitely say that it's not because of the prozac. If anything, 'zac keeps my appetite and my weight low.

Susan,
What dosage did u start on? I am going to start on 20 and stay at 20, is that too much to start, do you think I should try to cut my pills and start out at 10mg?
Thanks, lexy

I was at twenty for a few months, then forty, then sixty. Now I play around with the amount, trying to get it at the right living level. Don't recommend doing that by the way, the only reason I do is my psych told me it was okay to try that.

Hi everyone,
I have been out of touch for a while but I am back to normal (hopefully). We went on vacation for labor day weekend and that put me way behind on things. Work started for me on Tues and the girls went back to school on Wed. I have been busy catching up on laundry, shopping, cleaning, plus homework, paying bills and balancing my checkbook (which is completely screwed up!). I also have homework that I have been doing. So obviously I am very busy but not feeling overwhelmed yet! Lex has helped me so much with that feeling. I don't get things done like I used to but I dont really care either. Not sure if that is good or bad. I have messed up my check book, forget to pay bills and many other things. But it's not bothering me. Is that okay? Not sure. I feel so irresponsible! Ha Ha. Mrs. C

Hey Mrs. C
Glad to have you back. About all that stuff, not balancing your check book ect... I think that is what normal life is life when you live without anxiety...I can't be for sure because its been a while since I have not had anxiety...Anyway, if so congrats on your new achievement...let me know if you need help on your homework!!
