Bride, when you click the chat button and nothing happens, that probably means that you need to "sign in". You can sign in at the top of the screen.
If you are already signed in to your yahoo email account when you go to the chat page, you won't have to sign in again to chat.
I must warn you that yahoo bounces us out of chat periodically, but you can "usually" get right back in. If you get bounced out you will see a message that says you cannot join chat, or something like that - - just ignore that message and click the chat button again. Sometimes you have to close your browser and go back in, but don't give up; it happens to everyone.
Hope this helps!

Ali, I went thru a hard time on lex awhile back, too, but I am beginning my 4th month now, and I am feeling sooo much better. My doc and I played around a little with the dose, but I ended up back at 10mg, and am off the benzo at night (I am able to sleep fine without it now). My doc took me off the benzo because he thought it was causing some of the unpleasant s/e's, i.e. lack of motivation and tiredness during the day.
I take at least one day off the lex on weekends and sometimes two, and it has made a big difference; it seems to give me the boost I need to tackle the work week. Talk to your doc and see what he/she thinks.
I was ready to give up not that long ago, but now I am glad I toughed it out, because I feel better than I have in a very long time.
Good luck, Ali . . . I'm glad you posted again (*smile*).

Hi Em -
No major changes yet. I didn't drop to 10mg for the first time til this past Saturday. I was worried I'd have some side effects like headache or nausea, but noticed no difference. I don't know what to think - I don't want a return of the depression & obsessive thinking I still had while on 10mg, but I can't take the sleepiness (& there's only so much coffee and tea I can drink to stay awake!).I probably won't really be able to judge till next week when I'm on 10mg all the time. I'm going to my therapist today so I'll see what her opinon is. I'll keep you posted!
Have a good day,
~ Lynne

thanks lynne. i feel the same way. i can only take so much spaciness before i feel like i'm totally losing my mind, yet the anxiety on 10mg was unbearable. my pdoc doesn't seem that helpful, unfortunately. thanks again and am interested to hear what you find out...EM

Hi Ali -
Thanks for the Mother's Day wishes!Just wanted to mention that many people, including me, started slipping between 8 - 10 weeks on Lex. I upped to 20mg at that time and it helped a lot - but it did take a few weeks on 20mg before I truly felt better. I now only have occasional bad moments - maybe twice a month during the week before my period where I feel anxious and/or depressed again - and they don't last more than a day, sometimes just a few hours!
I can't remember how many mg you're on, but keep the faith and talk to your p-doc! You'll get there, don't worry!!!

Hi Simus -
Thanks for your response. That's a good question. I've had such bad insomnia until the past month that it is hard for me to say whether I was foggier on 20mg than on 10mg. I think it was about the same - which I told my doc, but he still wants me to try this since my insomnia is now practically gone. He's a very cautious & conservative fellow! I, however, am not that way at all - impulsive and wanting to charge on to find a cure!I've always had a little fog, due to depression I always thought. But I do want to get my thyroid and other hormones checked to make sure it's not something else.
What a mystery our brains are! Thanks again!
~ Lynne

How did you feel at 10mg when you started the Lex? Were you foggy/sleepy then too, or did it start at the higher doses?

Hi Anxious Babe and welcome! I'm 40 with 3 kids (second marriage) and have PMDD - pre menstrual dysphoric disorder. I was depressed, anxious but not panicky and a bit obsessive with some very negative thought patterns. The Lex has helped a lot! I've been on it a little over 6 months and went from 10mg to 20mg after about 10 weeks.
You may feel some side effects when you up your dose, don't be afraid to work through them for a few days or maybe even a week. That's great that the Lex helped reduce your need for the Xanax.
Hang in there and post when you need us :-)
~ Lynne

Hi, thanks for the welcome. I am 33, married with two kids and suffer from anxiety/panic disorder. I am on 5mg of Lexapro and 0.25 of xanax when needed. I used to be on xanax everynight before my doc put me on lexapro 6 weeks ago. I am feeling much better but I think I should increase my dose to 10mg, I was suppose to do that after 7 day but when I did I think my body wasn't used to the medication and I felt funny so I cut back down to the 5mg.

Hi Mrs. C. - Thanks for your response! I have to give something a try. I've lived in a foggy, sleepy state for so long it's hard to realize that it's not normal! I'm going to my therapist today, so I'll see what she thinks. I hope you're doing better and that you had a great Mother's Day! Good luck finishing up your semester!

Lynne,
How long were you on 10mg when you started Lex? Maybe you just needed more time for the Lex to "kick in". ??? Who knows, 10 may be just perfect for you.

Hi Ali, I am so sorry that you are feeling blue. It's so good to hear from you again though. Is it possible that you are expecting your monthly "friend" soon. I almost always feel like I am relapsing around my time. Some of the s/e from the lex return too. Just a thought. Have you talked to your doc about this? You should if you don't feel better soon. Hang in there. Mrs. C

Hey Lynne, I haven't checked the posts in a while. I see that you have begun your decrease. Glad that so far you feel okay. I hope that this works out for you. I think that I am finally starting to feel the effects of increasing to 20. Although this is the week before my period so I am feeling a little bit "fragile". Things are a little stressed right now for me but my final exam is this Saturday and dance is over for the girls this week too. So next week should be smooth sailing. Hope that you had a great Mother's day. Bye for now. Mrs. C

Hi there Mrs C. Thank you for caring. I do not get a monthly anymore, too old lol. I am 47 and have been menapausing for 4 years and it has really sucked. Anyway I have been going through alot lately. My mom was diagnosed with cancer. And alot of other stress. I think that might have a lot to do with it. I dont feel as bad today so I am very thankful for that. I am going to go to my doc soon and talk to him. I really just want to feel at least semi- normal. I would be very thankful for that. Anyway enough about me. I hope that you are feeling well and having good days. : ) Take care and God bless, Ali

Simus - That's a good thought. I was on it about 8 or 9 weeks at 10mg when I started backsliding, so went to 20mg the week after that. I do wonder if I had ridden it out another week or 2 whether I would've been okay. I hope 10 will work. I had a little anxiety yesterday, which was a 10-day. Don't know if it was my imagination taking over or if it was really the decrease!
I talked to my therapist yesterday and she agreed that going down to 10 and then back up to 20 on the day before I ovulate and the day of, then also on the 5 days before my period may just do the trick. I'm excited to get thru the next month and see how it works!
Thanks for your continued support :-)
