Mystic!
That is great news, God is good. I am so glad that nothing seems immeditaly threatening. That is very re-assuring. I would probably talk to your OBGYN, I think that is a great idea to maybe get a biopsy to be super safe. Good luck and GOD BLESS!

Hope you have a good day!!

Back to 10mg

In reply to Feeling Lousy, posted by KathrynLex on April 6, 2004, at 15:58:10

Hey, guys, sorry I haven't been posting lately, but I've been feeling really dragged out and listless. Have been hardly able to keep my eyes open, yet needing more Lorazepam in order to sleep. When I found myself calling in sick on Monday, I realized that this can't go on.

I cut back to 10mg Lex (from 15mg) yesterday, and I am still feeling a little out of it, but am more awake today. We'll see how it goes for awhile. I am taking Lex for depression, and they say the lower doses are effective for depression, so . . .

I guess if the crying comes back again I will try to tough it out rather than go for the increase again. I am glad I have you all to help me if it gets bad again.

Hi Jlynne,

I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I hope the 10 mgs works out for you.

Have you tried Prozac. I had a lot of success with it when I was depressed. Please keep us posted on how you're doing.

K, I tried Prozac about nine years ago, and did well on it, except for the insomnia. My pdoc at that time would not give me anything to help me sleep, so I had to stop. Would you mind comparing your experiences with Prozac vs. Lex? esp. the fatigue factor (not the insomnia -the daytime fatigue) My current doc is okay with giving me something for sleep.

Thanks:~)

Hi Jlynne,

In my experience the biggest difference between Lexapro and Prozac has been my energy level. Prozac made me very energetic whereas Lexapro makes me extremely tired. (Although the Wellbutrin is helping with that a bit.) Also, when I first started taking Prozac I experienced no side effects. When starting Lexapro I think I suffered every possible side effect along with some that aren't listed on the package insert.

Now that I think of it, I did have a little insomnia on Prozac. But I liked it so much I wish I'd never stopped taking it. (I tried taking it again a few years ago and it wasn't nearly as effective as it had been.) I hope you find something that works!

Hi jlynne - Sorry to hear you are not up to par this week! I can't remember when you went to 15mg. I went to 20mg about 3 1/2 months ago and my day-time sleepiness and insomnia just started getting better a week or 2 ago. I still feel tired and out of it for a few hours each day. I hope your 10mg works and the signs of depression don't return. I'll be very interested to hear what happens!

Kathryn is right, there are so many alternatives and combos of drugs out there - don't give up trying to find the right mix for yourself!!! Sometimes when you're so tired, it's hard to advocate for yourself and make decisions (that is me!). I'm glad to see you're making a decision and trying something different.

Have a good weekend (I'm off work Friday so won't be posting) and take care!

hey everyone, the last couple of days i have been sleeping A LOT more than i normally need to, it seems i cant wake up and stay up, another thing i wake up with a headache cause i think i might be grinding my teeth or clenching my jaw while i am sleeeping. Could this be a side effects from my increase? and if so will it go away and or what can i do about it?

((tired and headachy)) *yawn*

Mag...I remember that it took me a while to get used the paxil...and I did sleep alot and I did have headaches but they went away...I think that we all tend to think this is going to happen for us really quickly and when it doesnt we get upset and discouraged...You need to relax and let the med do its work and believe me I know how hard that is....

I know that for me and have wanted to share this for a while and keep forgetting...I keep a journal and it seems that when I'm sick is the only time I keep one but I know that it helps me so much for a couple of different reason...For one it helps get things out and on a piece of paper and out of my head or somewhat out of my head...Two you can really see things in writing and see that you are not always aware that things do not always last FOREVER (as I dont know about you but for me everything is forever and always)..but for me I look back on things and I start to remember that it hasnt been a couple of weeks that I have felt bad in fact it has been a couple of days or 4 days or something like that..Its really nice to know that a couple of days ago I had a good morning and felt pretty good and a couple of months ago I couldnt even get out of my own way and just wanted to give up..and I really dont think like that too much anymore so that has been helped...I know that it is time consuming but when you think about it you can journal and it only really takes a couple of minutes at night or in the morning..

I also know that you are on a very small dose even now and sometimes when you are on such a low dose and go up a little bit you can feel the side effects again because you really werent at a theraputic dose to begin with...Typically and I might be wrong but I think typically you are at 20+mgs for it to work effectively...I realize everyone is different and trust me Mag I know I havent gone up to 15mgs on the Lex either but I'm just trying to help...I want this to work for you and dont want you to suffer as everyone doesnt want me to either...

You are not alone Mag we are all here to help you..I'm still around on the weekends and will be here for you...So I pray that you start to feel better really soon and I know it will happens..but please think about the journalling I really think it makes a world of difference...Please try to get out this weekend and get out of bed and force yourself to do something to get your mind off things..It is the worst thing to do to stay in bed and think we all know that...SO please just try I know how hard it is..I'm not trying to be an a h e....

Lexy I still havent heard from you a little worried...Susielalala I luv ya...jlynne how are you doing today.....EM hope you are doing great...K tell me how you are doing?...Lynne have a great weekend...!!!!!...hope I didnt forget anyone.....Bridetobe..how are you doing??...Trucker hows it going???

Well I've got to get my butt to arobics before I change my mind...Take care everyone and Mag sorry if I upset you just trying to help....Your friend...Mystic

Hi Mag,

I had the same problem for the first 6 weeks that I was on Lexapro. I would get up in the morning and fall asleep while brushing my teeth! Going to bed earlier and allowing your body that extra sleep helps a little bit. Coffee works too if you're a coffee drinker.

With each increase I've done, the tiredness comes back. I can't tell you how many hundreds of times I hit the snooze button when my alarm goes off.

I didn't experience the jaw clenching, but I know it's common. Some people go to their dentists to get a mouth guard of some kind that prevents them from clenching their jaw. (It's used to stop people from grinding their teeth too.)

I CAN tell you that the side effects go away. Hang in there.

K.
