I'm getting scared myself. I'm starting to have a flareup of OCD. Sigh.
But I'm looking forward to it.
Should I be all CBT and label my anxiety as excitement?

I would *so* love to meet you.
I'll keep those eyes crossed, along with my fingers and toes.
Sigh. Sounds like a long drive. Wish I could help you out there.

If you've found one at reasonable, you've done better than me. All I found is exorbitant, even with no ability to cancel. :(
It certainly gives me incentive not to chicken out.
Can we count you as probable?

I guess Dr. Bob wants this to be small and intimate. :) I'll quit nagging him.

A hotel lobby or a restaurant?
Dinah, I don't believe you really look like a wart hog. I'll try to post what I'm wearing closer to the date, but otherwise I'll be the one having a major social anxiety attack heading towards a bar.

Well, *that*'s no help. Unless we all identify each other by being the ones having a major social anxiety attack. :D I'm already anxious.
Did you get Dr. Bob's invite to the Yahoo group? Or Annierose's email?

Every day is casual day for me. If jeans don't work, I'll have to do some major shopping. The few dress things I own don't fit anymore.
Scratch the shopping. I've found that most places are happy to take my money no matter what I'm wearing.

Here is a list organized *roughly* by the areas of downtown Chicago that would be most feasible for attendees to stay in (contains no price clues though, beyond spotting the identifiable economy ones). Disclaimers: this probably isn't all of the feasible ones; and some may not still be there or have changed names. But if so, the new name for it is probably listed too. Also may be repeats, like if the location is somewhere that kinda could fit in two categories. Maybe this will help at least, if you Google them or as a reference while you use the hotel sites to see how much they are and get contact info (not all of these are listed on each of the major hotel sites).
For my purposes here I picked "Convenience Ground Zero" to be the heart of the Mag Mile, around Water Tower Place or the river at Wacker. You couldn't go very wrong with any of the following. Loop ones would be farthest away (well, closest of all if Millenium Park was Ground Zero!), but none are bad. About 15 min. walk, or a quick, few buck cab ride (also there are bus stops every block, for buses that go straight up and down Mich Ave all day and night). Best zip codes to stick within are 60611, 60610, and maybe 60605. A suggestion would be, when you find something you think is suitable, pull up a Yahoo or other online map and enter the address of it. You should be able to get a good idea how far away from ground zero it is. Between about 400 N. and 900 N., and within about 6 blocks east or west of N. Michigan, is probably a decent guideline.

I was thinking I might be able to spend the night if I could find a room mate to share the costs of the hotel room. Our hot water heater just went out and it was over $500 bucks to fix, so I am running short on cash. Anybody? I promise, I am mostly normal, lol I only do bizare things in my sleep! just kidding! lol really!

Ouch, guess I haven't reached that mythical state of completeness yet, I had another spasm that forced me to post hostel info.
These of course aren't as convenient as the hotels mentioned. Found awhile ago, don't know if the info is current. But there are lots of details available on the web. (FYI Happyflower, these can be shared, but don't know if you have to provide your own roommate, or if you're comfortable letting them provide one if they will). The lines looked like they might run together in this post, in case something seems to be missing.

Oh drat. I don't want to be vulgar by saying their name.
