Hi John,
Im on my 6 week of Lexapro at 10mg. The beginining was hard. I had insomnia for 3 days straight then would sleep til 3am and be up. I was shaky and fuzzy headed also. I switched to taking it in morning at 6:30am and it really helped. The insomnia got better and now I sleep great. Try going for a walk in the afternoon it really helps and I also take B-complex vitamin 50mg with 500 mg of vitamin C and a multivitamin. good luck and hang in there you are not alone!dzinegirl

Everyone,
Thanks so much for all your support. Ya'll are the greatest. I am still not feeling that good but not quite as bad as yesterday. I am feeling a little sad and irratiable. I am on the end of my period so maybe my hormones are balancing out because I feel a little roller coasterish. Anyway, I am also completley stressed out (22 days left!) with school so I am just praying that I even out some. Ya'll have been so wonderful to me and it is so great to be able to celebrate our ups and be consoled with our downs. Thanks so much!!! God Bless you all!

Hi John,
I had the same experience for the first 3 weeks I was on Lexapro. These are all very common side effects and they DO go away. If it becomes too uncomfortable for you, ask your psychiatrist about getting some Xanax or Klonopin. Either of those meds will help you relax and get some sleep.

Hey folks,
Once again I am in real need of advice here. I have been on 10mgm of Lexapro for one week -- beginning yesterday I have been so tired that it is all I can do to even move! Also, the anxiety came back and worse than ever!! I feel like I want to tear my hair out, It's so nutsy...I have battled depression for over 20 years, but NEVER anxiety like this. The periodic episodes of the anxiety was one reason the doc started the Lexepro and until yesterday everything was fine. Maybe upping the dose? Man I will do almost ANYTHING to get rid of the anxiety and sleepiness!! Any input appreciated. Oh, It is not my menstrual cycle, I stopped that over ten years ago. And forget recommending a benzo -- doc's around here equate that with poison, so one might as well forget that possibility. Thanks y'all -- Hornet

Linnie,
Yep, in my wrist/thumb. It turned out to be tendonitis. I had at first written the pain off as a Lex s/e. I am kicking myself for that now as I had my 2nd cortizone shot Wed. The hand doc said they would do one more shot, then try "releasing the pressure on the tendon." Sounds easy... NOPE, means cutting my hand up. YUCK! AND I have to wear a stupid splint 24/7. Sucks sucks sucks.

Last night, I tried reading the boards and everything started swimming in front of my eyes. I started having slight migraine pains around 7:00 last night, and it got worse throughout the night. I went to bed at 10 (early for me) and got up at 7:00. This is a lot of sleep for me. I woke up with the migraine again, and felt disoriented, nauseated, and uncomfortable driving. I went into work for 1 1/2 hours and then came back home. I immediately got into the bed and slept for another 4 hours. I'm not hungry and just feel out of it. I did notice the appearance of my "chin zit," a monthly friend that comes to irritate me a few days before I start, so I am preparing for a bad period this month. I feel like a CRAB. I want to go to the grocery store, but I don't want to put my jeans back on. This bites. I cut out all the caffeine in my diet (including the diet pills yesterday), so I wonder if this is also part of the problem.

Caffeine withdrawal can really be very hard and you get brutal headaches...So be easy on the Lex it might not have anything to do with it..What dosage are you on..Is there a difference between Kathrynlex and K...Thanks

Aren't we all a mess today. I have been horrible the past few days, at least you can blame it on your period, I am trying to blame it on mine ending! I am really sorry you are feeling so bad. I am sitting here trying to write a paper and all the words are just running together. Yuck, at least I pulled it together enough and am not crying. I hope you get a good night sleep and things get better for you. I am sure once your period starts you will be doing great again!
God Bless,

Mystic,
I think the caffeine does have a lot to do with it after all. I had a Diet pepsi with dinner, and the headache went away. :-)

Lexy,
You are such a sweetheart. I can't get over all the stress you must be under with school, etc, and yet you still get on here and encourage all of us! I am feeling better already, I had some caffeine so I am awake at least. I snapped at my husband three times, so, YEP, I'm about to start. All that's left is for me to have a good cry for no reason. I don't know why I am always surprised when I start... all the signs are there each month. Before, it was such a disappointment (since we were trying to get pregnant). Now I'm at the point where I don't stress about it, and if it happens, it happens.

Kellianne...glad you are feeling better..I look for you on the other post..I think that we are supposed to be posting for more personal posts over there ...You can get there by going to redirected lexaproers...and it is more social...Take care and try to just ween yourself off the caffeine slowly..it might make a difference...Take care Mystic

Good luck on the baby. I am sure that it was really stressful for you and our husband. I am sure that taking the stress out of it will probably help things along, I know everything will fall into place for you! You are so sweet to us on here, I know you would be a great mom. I am glad that you are feeling a little better, seems like a lot of us are not feeling so hot lately. I am hoping that tomorrow brings a brighter day of all of us!!

Hi Guys,
I've been on Lexapro for 4 months now...that's 4 menstrual cycles on lex, and each time the lex becomes ineffective and I start feeling symptoms of depression and anxiety creeping up on me. I took .5 mgs of Klonopin and feel much better than I did earlier...would it be a horrible thing to take Klonopin on a regular basis?
Going through this every month is getting to be exhausting. I want to think of myself as healthy but each month I get a little reminder that I'm still depressed and I still suffer from anxiety. Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful. Is there anyone who takes Lexapro and doesn't have problems around the time of their period?
Thanks for any input...this is just such an unpleasant problem and I'd like to find a solution.

I was on lexapro for about 3 months and had to stop because of severe headaches. I was on 10 mg. per day. My doctor told me to take 10 mg. every other day for a few days and then stop altogether. I had serious withdrawl symptoms at the beginning, severe dizziness, feeling like I was walking on air half of the day, just completely out of it. I was really scared! It has been about 3 weeks now since I have been off it, and I am FINALLY feeling pretty much back to normal...I am so happy to be back to my old self! Hang in there, it will get better, just give it time and let it run its course!

K...I feel the same way it usually is after my period ...i'm still on 10mgs and this is my second cycle and it was horrible again...wasnt sure if it had to do with stress I just had a mamogram and had a call back for 2 spots that were found..So I know that I'm stressed but it seems to work much better than when I'm having my cycle...What dosage are you on???...My dr told me to take my xanax at that time...but it gives me migraines for 2 days after I take it...I'm with you if anyone has any ideas...Mystic

Hey Ya'll
I normally post on social babble and psycho babble but I have a vitamin related question so I thought I would shoot your ya'll expertiese.
I am wondering if anyone has ever had an adverse reaction to calcium. I started taking calcium along with 20mg of lexapro, a daily vitamin complex, fish oil, B6 and B12. Yesterday I had a two hour crying spree for no known reason. I remember when this all first started I was taking the same vitamins minus the calcium and lexapro. I took calcium one day went to work out and came home in tears. I know I have weird reactions to things, diet drinks, caffiene and the stupid birth control pill which is why I am on lexapro in the first place.
I have done a little research on calcium and depression but have not come up with much. Also has anyone ever used magnesium for a alt.therapy??? Just wondering, I would LOVE some responses!!!
Thanks and God Bless,
Lexy
