great to read your post!
glad you're feeling better!
hope it's going okay with your folks ... ... i've been sending you positive vibrations ... ...> Hello!
> I went from 10mg to 20mg of Lexapro and feel better than I did on 10mg. Can you cite the study you read? I would be interested in reading it. This is the first I've heard of any such limitation to the medication and it has been used (what will be) a year in September. Thanks.i'm so glad you're hanging in there ... ... thanks for the update!

hi Wayne!
you have written:

I think it was because of a busy week and a lot of bad things happening all at once. So I guess I passed the test. No panic attacks or depression, but I do get some anxiety time to time, this from going somewhere new or just a real busy day. Its not bad anxiety, just enough to get my attention. I only take xanax at night now to relax. I also have been sleeping really well the last week. I have had life long insomnia so this is a welcomed change. Im sure the insomnia will come back so I better rest up. Anyone suffering from panic attacks or anxiety I will say this takes a long time to overcome. I kept getting a little better each week. Once the med works if it does you have to change your thoughts and face your fears. Repetition is the key. Take care everyone!!!!

I have been up to 10mg several times and just did not like the feeling. Seemed anxiety was higher and just felt worse overall. I eat my chocolate as well in fact it sits by the computer. I eat both kinds of chocolate but never anymore than an ounce a day. But I love chocolate and sometimes cant resist. Im so glad your doing well. TAKE CARE!!!

Started my son on lexapro 9 days ago. Since he is very sensitive to meds started him on 2.5 mg. First 4 days he seemed a little better, so upped to 5 mg. He was GREAT for a few days, then I noticed he started to get a little agitated right before he was due his next dose (he takes it about 8:00 p.m.). Cut back again to 2.5 mg. Seemed to be a little agitated again the next day (yesterday). He also takes risperdal. I am trying to figure out what to do now......does this anxiety go away? (It's been 9 days since he started). Do I keep him at this dose for a while to see if it goes away, or do I incrase to see if that helps? Any ideas? HELP!

Hi! - Right now I am on 5 mg of Lexapro. I started a week ago. Almost immediately, I started feeling better. I have side effects, but I hope they will subside in time. One of my biggest complaints is that, though it has already helped my depression, it hasn't stopped me from thinking, thinking, thinking soooo much. There isn't a time when something is not going on in my mind. I feel just a bit more manic on this drug, though before, this would really get me down, but now I feel better able to cope.
Ok, finally my question: My doctor wanted me to go up to 10mgs after a week. Do you think upping the dose will help my mind calm down a bit, or do you all think it will make it worse? I'm taking this both for depression and obsessive thoughts. Like I said before, has definately helped for the depression, and a little less so for the obsessive thoughts. Should I stay at 5mg and see what happens, or go up to 10 like my doc wanted me to? What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Dc75

After just a few days I stopped crying for the first time in like 70 days. Waiting wont hurt and going up wont hurt I guess. If you do up the dose I would not go any further for a good 4 weeks or so. Just be aware of how your feeling and you can go back down to 5 if it gets to be to much. GOOD LUCK!!!

I could not take paxil and zoloft. I had a hard time with lexapro at the begining and that was 5mg. My doc said stop taking it but I was desperate. On my own I cut that sucker to about 2mg and this helped ease my mind and side effects. The only thing I could say is cut that med to 1mg if you have to and see what happens. Dear T,
I'm just browsing around the posts, and came
across yours. My heart goes out to you, I
lost a full term son (my only-I have all girls).
I've had a heck of a life too! I won't go
into it, but the "church" (I left it), told me
that my "problems" were because of un-submissiveness (if they only would have investigated what was REALLY going on)! Anyway,
another time-another post perhaps. I'm here.
It has been mans choices for me, but NOT the Lords
for alot of my life. Stand firm- you get alot of
crap. Ever wonder why? The Lord loves us ALL-
no matter what we've done, or will do! The cross-
just you and Him, not others!I've been off Lex now for over 3 weeks. I'm tired
of being "vulnerable" and drugged. For the first
time in over 12? years- I'm med free and trying
to see what is what. I'm not saying that meds
aren't good, but I had to do this, and I don't
regret it one bit. I'm doing what I want to do
for a change, which I don't think is "unhealthy"
a bit! Still fighting depression (on or off meds)
but haven't had "panic" attacks yet (bracing
myself somewhat). Dealing with memories (bad)
myself, and praying for the Lords wisdom in all
this. I now know that the ECT messed me up
perm.. I warn people, and am getting actively
involved especially with the vulnerable, and
elderly. Will try to post down the line, and nice to see
some posts from the oldtimers!LOL!

I always seem to feel better in the summer and worse in the winter. When I do get off meds, I let myself get so down before I get back on them. So far my major depression has been event related, usually do to some trauma with my boys. My youngest son has Legg Calve Perthes Disease which sent me into a breakdown. Then my oldest sons appendix ruptured, then my youngest had a severe reaction to we think penicillen called HSP. Pretty scary looking but he made it through ok. I have talked with Wayne and others here about this, but dont know if the newbies know. I have always had mild to moderate depression since I was about 10, but events like these with my kids really send me downhill. My sister is bipolar and I think this stuff runs in the family, we just have to keep fighting and helping each other. I would really recommend some Florida sunshine!!
